boots on the ground theater

boots on the ground theater was born out of a passion for storytelling, history, and the creative process. Founder Bonnie Grice developed a great love for the creative arts over the course of her 30+ years as a radio host interviewing artists of all kinds. While getting to stretch her creative muscles on air in radio and television, it was theater that has always had a special place in her heart.

After performing in numerous community theater productions in the East End of Long Island, Bonnie decided to jump into the theater world with both boots. boots on the ground theater was established in 2016 with a focus on exploring historical and contemporary stories through the unique perspective of Long Island’s East End.

Dear Friends,
The game is afoot.
Following our successful 2018 season featuring The Miracle Worker and The Red Badge of Courage, my theater company is now getting ready to produce a new tale starring one of the most beloved characters in all of fiction, Sherlock Holmes.
In March 2020, boots on the ground theater will bring Sherlock's Secret Life to the Southampton Cultural Center (SCC). This is the Long Island premiere of Ed Lange's play based on characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
It's elementary. We need your help!
  • • Please show your support for our thriving local theater company
  • • Donate now to Southampton Cultural Center and help us bring Sherlock to life on stage
Your generosity makes it all possible. You rock!

Our mission has always been to present historic theater with an eye to educating theater-goers of all ages. For this production, in addition to the play, there will be an exhibition on the history of the 19th-century detective. Do you know who wrote the first Detective Story? We'll also explore Sherlock Holmes' ties to Long Island and Connecticut.
Plus, there will be a free matinee for students followed by a Q&A with a detective from the Southampton Police Department comparing detectives then and now.
