In the beginners class we will address the fundamentals of playing the guitar - developing hand strength and being able to play notes with precision, learning simple melodies, open chords and easy strumming patterns, as well as how to tune the instrument. We will also cover effective practice strategies, commensurate with the amount of time that any individual student is able to devote to it.

This class is open to beginners and those playing at a basic level, age 11 and up.
Tuesdays, 5:30 – 6:45 PM
Tuition: $ 25 per session

Guitar, Intermediate Level

This class is designed for students who have some experience with the instrument and who have a familiarity and general mastery of the fundamentals - basic chords and rhythms, etc. We will cover major and minor scales as well as some variations including the blues and pentatonic scales and explore using these devices to improvise. We will address development and refinement of technique, chord progressions, reading skills, employing simple shapes to learn the notes of the fingerboard and how the chords and scales connect along the neck. Additionally, we will develop skills for learning music by ear and playing more advanced rhythms in a variety of musical styles.
Tuesdays, 5:30 – 6:45 PM
